Gerry Adams arrives at High Court in Dublin for defamation case against the BBC
The reporter in the Spotlight programme at the centre of a defamation action taken by Gerry Adams has said the “utmost care and responsibility” was taken to corroborate an allegation that the former Sinn Féin president sanctioned the murder of British spy Denis Donaldson.
The claim was made in the 2016 programme by a person known only as Martin, a former British informer who infiltrated both the IRA and Sinn Féin.
