Over her celebrated career, Joan Rivers made fashion part of her branding. She was known for wearing extravagant, glamorous ensembles. Rivers was the owner of several dazzling jewelry pieces. Following her death in 2014, jewelry from her collection was auctioned off by Christie’s in 2016. The final sale for the public and online auctions was a total of $2,495,250, with 281 out of a total of 294 items sold.

“This auction was an important testament to my mother’s legacy,” Melissa Rivers, daughter of Joan Rivers, said via statement following the auction. “I’m delighted that the many works of art in her collection sold at Christie’s found new homes across the world, and my sincere wish is that the things she loved will be cherished for years to come. She would have been touched, as I have been, by the love and support expressed by her fans.”

During her life, Rivers was credited with transforming celebrity fashion commentary. She also hosted “Fashion Police” from 2010 to 2014. Rivers designed her own jewelry and apparel lines for QVC.

Ahead of NBC’s “Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All-Star Tribute,” WWD looks back at iconic pieces from the comedian’s jewelry collection. See photos below.
