Anselmo Garcia MacNulty received a surprise phone call from Heimir Hallgrimsson last month when the Ireland boss informed the 22-year-old that he was on his way to watch him live in action against Feyenoord in the Dutch top-flight.
But almost three weeks from that night, the former U-21 defender is hoping for another call – his first senior call-up – with Hallgrimsson set to announce his squad on Wednesday for the June friendly double-header against Senegal and Luxembourg.
