TikTok star Kayla Malec is opening up about experiencing a full-circle moment after ex-boyfriend Evan Johnson was charged with domestic assault.
Malec explained in a Sunday, May 11, TikTok that Johnson was on probation when they met one year ago. She noted that the pair first crossed paths around his court date, which he invited her to go to.
“Now, almost exactly a year later, I woke up at 6 a.m. in my own Airbnb with my family, put on my court outfit, got to the courthouse at 9 a.m. with my family, went through security, went upstairs, went in the courtroom — 4D, same courtroom — sat down,” Johnson said in the video. “This time not next to him, but next to my family, on the opposite side, and I’m pretty sure it was the same judge. I’m almost 100 percent sure it was the same judge. Waited for them to call his name, and instead of being sad, I was smiling when they put [him] in custody.”
She continued, “It’s just so f***ing crazy that in a year I am in the same place with the same person, but with a completely different perspective of who they are, a completely different knowledge, actually knowing who the f*** I was sitting in the same room as, with new trauma and new memories … just knowing the truth and knowing that a year ago, I was sitting in that same room, not knowing s***.”
@kaylamalecc i hope this can inspire someone going through a scary time. so much can be saved in a year, life is so full circle. i love you all so much. for us #fyp

Johnson noted that his courtroom appearance was “the last time” she will ever see Johnson. “I just keep thinking I wish a year ago I could have just known that this dude was gonna rock my s*** and leave me with years of lifelong PTSD and s*** and make my life a living hell,” she said. “But, I can’t, and I don’t know, it’s just so f***ing crazy, how full circle it is, that it’s almost exactly a year apart.”
Johnson was charged by officials in Sumner County, Tennessee, on May 7 with domestic assault, per online Sumner County Courthouse Records. NBC News reported that he pleaded guilty to a domestic assault charge on Wednesday, May 7, and was ordered to have no content with Malec, according to court documents obtained by the outlet.
Johnson was also ordered not to operate TikTok, YouTube or Facebook accounts in his name and pleaded guilty to a probation violation for a DUI, per the docs. A court representative told the outlet that Johnson is in custody.
“I still can’t process s***. Nothing feels real still,” Malec said on Sunday. “So I’m excited to be back home where I can actually process everything that happened.”
