Saturday Night Live made a subtle joke about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ongoing security drama across the pond.
“President [Donald] Trump has announced a new trade deal with the U.K. that will reopen British markets for American companies,” Colin Jost quipped during the “Weekend Update” segment on the Saturday, May 10, episode. “All that Britain demands in return is that we keep these two.”
As Jost, 42, said, “these two,” a photo of Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, flashed on the screen. The audience burst into laughter, while Jost maintained a straight face void of emotion.
Harry and Meghan, who have not addressed the SNL parody, moved from the U.K. to her home state of California in 2020 after stepping down from their duties as senior working royals. Around the same time, Harry fought to keep their family’s security protections whenever they visited England. (Harry and Meghan live in Montecito with kids Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 3.)
Harry’s latest court appeal was denied earlier this month.
“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” Harry, who previously served in the U.K. military for 10 years, told the BBC in a sit-down after the court verdict. “I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done.”
According to Harry, he found it “really quite sad” that Archie and Lili wouldn’t be able to see the best of his home country following the court ruling. The prince also made it clear that he wanted to mend fences with father King Charles III and older brother Prince William. (The trio have been estranged since Harry and Meghan’s move stateside.)
“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore,” Harry stressed to the BBC. “There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family.”
Harry further noted that he has “forgiven” his relatives, though neither Charles, 76, nor William, 42, has publicly addressed the reported fallout. A source, however, claimed to Us Weekly that the royals no longer trust Harry.
“The whole institution is concerned that if Charles reaches out, any conversations and information would be splashed across the American press,” the insider told Us earlier in May. “Harry did what his mother [Princess Diana] did and it’s impossible to come back into the fold after that. So, everyone around Charles isn’t keen on him reaching out to Harry. They understand it’s a father-son relationship, but the family is so complicated, and issues of the monarchy often supersede personal relationships.”

Back across the pond, Harry recently put aside any apparent tensions for a fun date night with Meghan. They attended Beyoncé’s Friday, May 9, concert in Los Angeles on her Cowboy Carter Tour.
“About last night. Thank you @beyonce and team for an amazing concert (and a very fun date night)! All love,” Meghan gushed via Instagram several hours later, sharing photos of the couple packing on the PDA from their private suite.
Harry also wore a wide-brimmed hat from Kemo Sabe, which was embroidered with the names of his children — and “my love” for his wife — along with illustrations of the flags for the U.S., the U.K. and California.
