Part of the drug seizure on display
A man, aged in his 60s, who was arrested in connection with the seizure of cannabis herb worth €10m in Co Clare, has been charged.
He is now due to appear before a special sitting of Ennis District Court at 3pm today.
Two people have been arrested by gardaí following the operation in Co Clare on Wednesday, May 7.
The second arrested individual, also aged in his 60s, has been released from Garda custody without charge.
A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, a Garda spokesperson said.
It comes after gardaí from the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit and Garda units based in Limerick carried out an operation at a residential property in Co Clare on Wednesday.
Two pallets containing more than 500kg of cannabis herb, valued at more than €10m, were recovered during the operation.
Two men, who were arrested following the seizure, were detained at Garda stations in Clare and Limerick while the seized cannabis was sent for analysis to Forensic Science Ireland.
This operation is a part of ongoing investigations by Revenue and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau targeting drugs distribution networks.
The investigation remains ongoing, a spokesperson added.
