Ireland’s housing tsar won’t earn €430,000 a year. That won’t stop us debating the salary the appointee does receive. We’re also sure to debate it if the idea falls apart. Public pressure will remain as the Government pursues a housing policy that can’t get supply high enough.
The latest Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll found 62pc of voters believe housing is the main issue the country faces. That’s miles ahead of the one they ranked second-most pressing, immigration, on 28pc.
