As RTÉ launches a series on Ireland’s fishermen, Chrissie Russell speaks to one of its subjects about the perils of fishing on his own, trying to make ends meet, and why he’s determined to do things sustainably

Fionn Ó Corraoin hears about office drama from friends and family, but can’t really relate to it. “Sure what would that be? Myself and a seagull having an argument?” he says in his gentle Co Waterford accent.
“What is it they say? ‘A bad day’s fishing is still better than a good day’s work’,” and on a day like today, where the sun is splitting the sky and the sea sparkling like a millpond, it’s easy to see why he often gets people telling him he has a dream job.
