Whoopi Goldberg embraced this year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” with help from Thom Browne. The EGOT winner wore a custom look from the luxury brand on Monday, featuring a floor-length black buttoned dress and a dramatic white textured coat with sculptural, voluminous sleeves.

Goldberg’s outfit was completed with a formal black top hat adorned with veil detailing for extra drama, a black tie and white pocket square, creating a tuxedo-inspired formal element. Silver accessories, including large hoop earrings and statement rings, and a small black and white handbag completed her look.
Goldberg has been a longtime fan of Thom Browne. She attended his fashion shows during New York Fashion Week, including the fall 2023 show and earlier seasons like spring 2017.

The host of “The View” has been experimenting with dramatic silhouettes in her recent red carpet appearances. For the 2025 Oscars red carpet in Los Angeles, the actress wore a voluminous ballgown by Christian Siriano. Her dress was made of a rich navy blue fabric with a highly reflective, liquid-like satin finish. It featured an off-the-shoulder neckline with a structured, pleated bodice.
Thom Browne also dressed Grace and Wendi Murdoch for the 2025 Met Gala.
