A brand new house is a wonderful thing — A rating, underfloor heating, perfect foreign-holiday-worthy temperatures at all times — but making it look welcoming and giving it character can be a challenge, particularly if you’re a young homeowner, have a tight budget and have a lot on your plate. For example, there are many blank walls to be filled.
Instagrammer Orlaith Donlon and her husband Tim, who moved into their new home in south county Dublin two and half years ago, have made their home cosy with lots of DIY solutions including panelling. Orlaith solved the problem of blank walls with some art she created herself with Polyfilla, second-hand purchases including plates and pictures picked up in markets, and vintage frames for photos of her children.
