It appears owning a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry is too much for Colin Jost — or at least he’s willing to joke about it on Saturday Night Live.
Episode host Quinta Brunson starred in a Saturday, May 3, sketch called “Ferry Altercation,” where she and cast member Mikey Day played characters who got into a heated argument — through their respective cars — while parked on a ferryboat. (Brunson, 35, and Day, 45, notably appeared in a similar sketch during her 2023 SNL debut while fighting for a street parking spot.)
“This ticks me off, too, because I usually love the ferry,” Day told Chloe Fineman, who played his onscreen daughter.
Jost, 42, subsequently popped up to make an unexpected cameo outside of the “Weekend Update” desk. Wearing a Hawaiian shirt, he excitedly put his hands on Fineman’s car window.
“Hey! You said you love ferries?” Jost quipped. “If you love ferries, would you like to buy one?”
Fineman, 36, then asked, “If that was Colin Jost” standing outside their window.
“That’s Colin Jost,” Day’s character concurred, before addressing him directly. “We’re good, man. Thanks.”
Jost, however, pleaded with Day to “please buy” his boat. He also tried to switch up his sales pitch after Day and Fineman avoided eye contact.

“Hey, I’m Pete Davidson,” Jost teased. “Hi!”
Jost and Davidson, 31, both hail from Staten Island, New York, and bought a decommissioned ferryboat together in 2022. The former SNL costars planned to renovate it, transforming it into an entertainment venue.
“We just got all the plans built, and we had them do one of those computer-generated, ‘Show you what it could be’ type things, and now we’re out to a few people,” Davidson said on the “Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers” podcast in April 2024. “And it seems like it’s all going well, but it’s definitely, like, five years away.”
He added, “There’ll be a restaurant, there’ll be a concert venue, there’ll be a movie theater [and a couple of hotel rooms]. We jokingly named it the Titanic 2 on the LLC when we had to buy it. I can’t take full credit for that. … It’s actually funny that this will be a lifelong problem for me and Colin.”
Jost and Davidson’s ferry hosted Tommy Hilfiger’s fashion week presentation the following September. However, construction plans are still ongoing.
“A lot of people joke about it, but we have a really extensive plan, and we’re a lot closer than people seem to think,” Davidson said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in February. “It’s like four or five floors, and on each floor we’re going to do something interesting. A hotel up top. Movie theater, an entertainment theater, some little shopping kiosks.”
According to Davidson, the pair — along with an investing firm they partnered with — needed time to raise around “$100 million” in funds to cover the expenses.
“We have tons of stuff going on with it, so. I’m so happy,” Davidson added earlier this year. “But in the meantime, if you want to have a party on it, like, seriously, you can. It is available.”
Saturday Night Live airs on NBC Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET.
