A search operation is under way for a fisherman who went missing in the Cong, Co Mayo area at Lough Corrib last night.
The alarm was raised around midnight last night after the man, who had gone fishing at Lough Corrib yesterday, did not return.
A search for the man is being carried out by the Irish Coast Guard with assistance from local gardaí and local search and rescue agencies.
Coast Guard helicopters Rescue 115 and Rescue 118 were deployed to the scene of the search.
A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are assisting the Coast Guard, and local search and rescue agencies, in the ongoing search for a man reported missing locally at Lough Corrib in the Cong, Co. Mayo area yesterday, Saturday 3rd May 2025.
“At this time, An Garda Síochána has no further information available.”
