Choosing to explore sexual relationships within her marriage was a journey of awakening for Deepa Paul, and eventually led to an Irish boyfriend and the publication of her new book, Ask Me How It Works
Author Deepa Paul writes in frank and candid detail about her open marriage
Looking back over a life, it can easily seem like a person had a plan or plotted a route from one point to the next. More often, however, it’s a series of accidental, inadvertent or unintentional moments that shift us, by increments, along our path. So it was for writer Deepa Paul, for whom logging onto Craigslist to sell some furniture led, ultimately, to a life of polyamory and the publication of her new book Ask Me How it Works: Love In An Open Marriage.
Then 35, now 43, there were, of course, many steps and stages between posting pictures of furniture on Craigslist to where Paul is now — still in her marriage, but also committed to her Irish photographer boyfriend. Over nine years, and very much driven by Paul’s desire to explore, she and her husband Marcus opened up their marriage to dating other people. She was, in her own words, “a very busy lady”, setting up dates with people she connected with online, before later getting into a dance scene and striking up sexual encounters with people she met there.
