The number of sex toys abandoned on TfL services revealed — and two were returned

Each year, TfL’s lost property office logs hundreds of thousands of items – and each one is individually recorded and in lucky cases, reunited with its owner.

A few wallets here and a hat or two there are easy enough to sort: but what about the countless sex toys that end up separated from their partners?

Now, a cheeky Freedom of Information Request has revealed the TfL transport line that’s seen the highest number of sex toys end up in the lost and found over the last couple of years.

Any guesses? It’s the Circle Line, famed for its air conditioning, wide carriages, and now, the sex lives of its forgetful passengers.

Mapping the number of sex toys deserted across various services, data from TfL showed that in 2024, 20 were found across the capital.

Eight were found on their own, while 12 were nestled inside a bag. And no, we’re not sure whether they were rabbits or bullets.

There was a happy ending for two of these lost items though, which were successfully returned to their intended owners. We’re just hoping they were given a good clean afterwards.

In 2023, six toys were found all alone across the Big Smoke, while 14 were found inside a bag. Again, two managed to be reunited with their owners.

Five toys were found at five Circle Line stations in 2023 and 2024 – including Barbican, Cannon Street, Edgware Road, Paddington, and Westminster.

Four toys were found at Elizabeth Line stations in 2024 – including Abbey Wood, Gidea Park, Paddington, and Shenfield.

It wasn’t just the Circle and Elizabeth Lines though: absent-minded passengers were also boarding the other TfL services and leaving a crucial member on board.

In 2023 and 2024, pleasure devices were found at Barbican, Camden Town, Cannon Street, Earl’s Court, and Edgware Road, to name a few. Honourable mentions also went to Hammersmith, as well as High Barnet, London Bridge, Waterloo, and Willesden Green.

Bus garages were also a relatively common occurrence, with the most common location being Stockwell down in South London.

Camberwell, Merton, Northumberland Park, and Putney also appeared on the list, as did nearby Vauxhall.

So, how do these locations rank on Lovehoney’s 2025 Sex Map?

Across the UK, Greenwich, which is home to Abbey Wood, landed in 709^th place for the number of vibrators purchased, and slightly higher for strap-ons in 593^rd.

When it comes to dressing up in the bedroom, the French Maid is the costume of choice for Greenwich residents, while the favourite flavour of lube is a cheeky cherry.

Elsewhere on the Elizabeth Line, Westminster (where Paddington is located) ranks 657^th for vibrators, 520^th for strap-ons, and 321^st for butt plugs.

And while they may share a penchant for fruit-flavoured lube with Greenwich, their dildos are actually slightly longer on average, at 6.8” rather than 6.6”.

Meanwhile, in Brentwood, the borough Shenfield residents call home, dildos are a big event, as they measure 7.2” on average.

Vibrators see them rank 334^th, and they’re also relatively into their role play, ranking 248^th in the country.

Undoubtedly though, Lambeth – which houses both Stockwell and Vauxhall bus station, where some beloved toys were left abandoned – is significantly kinkier, placing 171^st in the country for vibrators and 84^th for butt plugs specifically. The more you know, after all.
