Question: A lot of my friends have become moaners and I’m finding it incredibly draining. I had three phone calls from different friends last week, all moaning about something or other. I’ve tried changing the subject, keeping things light, but I’m sometimes ignored or even spoken over.
I recently returned from a lovely holiday when a friend called. I wasn’t even asked about my holiday – she just moaned and moaned about how she’d been unwell. I feel like I’m just being used as an emotional sounding board, and I’m now avoiding a lot of friendships.
