Harry Potter star Jessie Cave is getting candid about her feelings about making money from her hair-focused OnlyFans account.
“I guess I do feel a sense of shame that I’m doing it. It’s proof of my failure to make (or rather, keep hold of) money as an actress and writer,” she wrote in an April 27 Substack post. “I’ve got nothing to show for 18 years of work in the arts industry. I’ve rented for 18 years and drained all my money on that and self-funding my YouTube videos or Edinburgh shows.”
Back in March, Cave, 38, announced she was launching an OnlyFans account for her hair, clarifying she would not be posting sexually explicit content like most of the platform’s creators are known for.
Despite making the basis of her account clear, Cave has been candid about the not-so-nice reception she’s gotten about her OnlyFans. “It’s gotten a little nasty. I feel a little gross, a little scared,” she wrote via Substack on April 20. “I am receiving too many lurid messages and don’t like being sent unsolicited dicks.”
The actress noted that she has received several inappropriate messages, including one asking her to go nude. “I’ve become dependent on the money coming in, it really is addictive once you start making it,” she added. “So, I’ve been hurt and upset that I’ve lost these subs even though I was clear about what I was offering – I have been made to feel I’ve cheated these men even though I thought I stated it so clearly.”
Although she’s faced some OnlyFans ups and downs since launching her account, Cave said she’s also made some friends through the platform and uses her funny DM stories as small talk.

“I find it much more entertaining to dive straight in and talk about a DM request I’ve got to spank myself with my plaits than I do talking about the benefits of cork flooring,” she joked in a May 5 Substack post. “I am still getting endless ‘do you do topless, do you sell nudes’ messages and I have started just ignoring them rather than apologising. The numbers are going up again, so I can afford to lose the people who are there for the wrong reasons. I should not be wasting my time messaging them apologetically, but I guess I still want to be liked.”
Cave scored her breakout role as Ron Weasley’s (Rupert Grint) love interest Lavender Brown in 2009’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. She reprised the role for the franchise’s final two films, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2, in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
In the years since Harry Potter came to an end, Cave has continued to act in projects such as Glue, Dani’s Castle, Call the Midwife, Black Mirror, Trollied, Miss Scarlet and Buffering. She also shares four children with her husband, Alfie Brown, whom she wed in 2014.
The couple launched their “before we break up again” podcast back in February, on which they share candid conversations about a variety of topics with listeners.
