Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage is building up to an onscreen split between Emily Osment and Montana Jordan — but did it happen during the show’s season 1 finale?
During the Thursday, May 15, two-part finale, Mandy (Osment) and Georgie (Jordan) faced several issues in their marriage starting with her new job. After filling in for the local weather girl, Mandy officially got offered a full-time position. The problem? Mandy’s boss turned out to be her ex Scott (Christopher Gorham), which Georgie didn’t know about at the time.
The revelation caused a fight between the fictional couple because Georgie didn’t want Mandy to take the job. There was also the fact that Georgie was thinking about buying the auto shop from Mandy’s father, Jim (Will Sasso). Mandy wasn’t sure whether it was a good financial investment, which put her at odds with Georgie.
Despite Scott admitting to Mandy that his girlfriend also doesn’t know they are working together — and a charged moment that didn’t feel very innocent — Mandy and Georgie are able to end the season on promising terms.

“I’m looking forward to seeing [how] that [plays out],” Osment, 33, exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month about how Scott will continue to be an issue in season 2. “We’re huge fans of Chris Gorham, who’s on another CBS show now. He’s on Sheriff Country so we’re sad. We’ll have to split him with another show.”
Osment noted that there was “hope” Gorham, 50, would return to “resolve” the relationship between Mandy and Scott, to which Jordan, 22, jokingly added, “He better remember which show had him on first.”
The costars also weighed in on how long before Georgie and Mandy’s inevitable breakup.
“I think at least 10 more seasons, right?” Osment quipped while Jordan replied, “Oh, for sure. If not 15 more seasons.”
For fans who need a refresher, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage picks up where Young Sheldon left off with the titular characters. After meeting during season 5 of The Big Bang Theory prequel, Georgie, who was 17 at the time, lied that he was 21, while 29-year-old Mandy pretended to be 25. Georgie and Mandy ultimately came clean — and then realized that they were expecting their first baby.
The odds are stacked against the main couple — and their show title has caused viewers to be concerned that Georgie and Mandy won’t make it. (According to past episodes of The Big Bang Theory, Georgie had two ex-wives and he runs the largest tire-selling chain in Texas, which already happened in the season 1 finale when he bought McAllister Auto and Tire.)
“We all know there’s an inevitable breakup in the future. As the title says [this is] the first marriage,” Jordan shared with Us in October 2024. “But whether we know [about] the second marriage or third marriage [is a different story].”
At the time, Jordan pointed out that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has leaned into the unknown.
“The story line is that Georgie gets married and divorced, like, two or three times. But we don’t know past that. We don’t know if it’s with Mandy or with somebody else,” he said. “We have no idea. As an actor in the show, I have no idea. I don’t even know if the writers do. We’re all just going with the flow and seeing what people like.”
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage returns to CBS in the fall and episodes are currently streaming on Paramount+.
