A total of 15pc of the Irish population suffer from arthritis. Diet is thought to affect the condition, but which foods are beneficial and why; which should be avoided; and crucially, can diet actually cure arthritis or is this simply an urban myth?
“Arthritis is an umbrella term used to encompass a broad number of diseases that affect people of all ages, even children,” says Professor Geraldine McCarthy, consultant rheumatologist at the Mater Misericordiae university hospital in Dublin, and clinical professor of medicine at UCD.
