The faded photo of three little boys, William, Peter and Sid, looks like any photo discovered in a drawer in a family home. Three brothers side by side. Only this photo wasn’t taken in a traditional family home and the three smiling brothers, posing together some time in 1968, didn’t even know they were brothers at the time.
Sid, who was just four when the photo was taken, would only find out the other two boys were his brothers some four years later. It seemed like a cruel deception to have been captured and committed to film, but then, the home they were in could be a cruel place to begin with – an orphanage in Greystones called Westbank.
