“Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” premiered out of competition at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in France on Wednesday, welcoming not only the film’s stars, including Tom Cruise, Hannah Waddingham and Angela Bassett, but additional celebrity guests like Halle Berry, Zoe Saldaña, Eva Longoria, Gabbriette and Heidi Klum. The stars walked the tapis rouge in a range of formal attire from luxury brands like Burberry, Elie Saab and Saint Laurent.
Here, WWD takes a closer look at celebrity style on the “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” red carpet premiere at Cannes.

Cannes juror Berry continued her festival style streak with a black and pink strapless dress from Celia Kritharioti. The dress featured a fitted corset-style bodice and transitioned into a voluminous skirt with bubbled pink gingham fabric exposing the legs in front, while black fabric was featured in the back. Her shoes were Aquazzura’s Comet pump style which features a crystal-embellished ankle strap.
Berry’s choice for the voluminous dress comes days after the Cannes Film Festival updated its dress code, banning voluminous outfits from the red carpet. The event said “voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted.”

Lead actor Cruise kept things classic with a black tuxedo and glossy dress shoes. His blazer featured a satiny lapel and was left unbuttoned, showing off his low-cut waistcoat. He stayed true to his classic Cruise accessory with a pair of aviator sunglasses. His costar Bassett meanwhile, who donned a Yara Shoemaker look earlier in the day for a photo call, showcased a dark Burberry outfit including a fitted ruched top with fringy sleeves and a drop waist fringy skirt. Complementary items for the actress included black platform heels, a thick silver necklace, pendant earrings and a popcorn purse.

Pom Klementieff, who also stars in the film, followed up her asymmetrical beige dress from the aforementioned photo call with a lavender look from Loewe’s fall 2025 collection. The halter neck dress featured a loosely draped top half which formed a ruched V shape at the center of the garment. The dress transitioned into a flowy column skirt with a slit exposing the actress’ platform sandals. The Loewe creation also featured a deep V neck.

Klum left behind her dress code-defying Elie Saab gown from the day prior for a different dress from the same brand — this time one with a shorter train. Klum modeled a silver sequined gown which shimmered with a holographic effect and featured beige linear detailing. The dress was designed with a fitted silhouette and off-the-shoulder sleeves.

Saldaña stayed loyal to Saint Laurent with a simple floor-length sleeveless black dress from the French brand. She brought an edge to the look with an oversized leather jacket which she wore draped casually off her shoulders. A pair of black sandals with a metallic gold wedge heel, also from Saint Laurent, complemented her dress as well.
Eva Longoria

A jury member, Longoria attended the red carpet event in a sequined Elie Saab gown from the designer’s fall 2024 collection, which was inspired by Russian Khokhloma art. “Standout pieces included fringed gowns in brighter colors with plenty of swoosh and swing as they made their way down the runway, and played with swirls on epaulettes or back detailing that resembled wings,” WWD’s Rhonda Richford wrote in June 2024.

Gabbriette embraced luxe leather, wearing a strapless gown from Chrome Hearts. The model was styled by her longtime collaborator Bailey Quinones.
