Cassie came face to face with ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs during her first day of testimony in his sex trafficking trial, and Us Weekly has a look inside the courthouse.
The singer, 38, was in the direct eyeline of Diddy, 55, when she took the stand on Tuesday, May 13, according to court sketches obtained by Us.
Cassie, who is pregnant with her and husband Alex Fine’s third baby, wore a brown, form-fitting turtleneck dress as she recalled the alleged abuse she endured at Diddy’s hands during their on-again, off-again relationship.
Cassie’s long, black hair was tucked behind her ears as she sat in the wooden box next to the presiding judge. In one sketch, Cassie can be seen looking off to the right while Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson asked her questions about her experiences.

A gray-haired Diddy was captured looking over his shoulder on the far left of the courthouse while Cassie spoke. Diddy wore a blue suit jacket during Tuesday’s trial with a white undershirt.
In a second sketch, Cassie (full name Casandra Ventura) held up her right hand and showed off her growing baby bump while being sworn in. She has a stern look on her face, per the image.
The courthouse artist also documented an emotional moment where Cassie cried amid her testimony. In the third sketch, the singer sat near the judge and wiped away tears with a white tissue.
The sketches are the first images of Cassie from within the courthouse after she was photographed on the way to the New York City-based trial on Tuesday. Us previously revealed sketches of Diddy when he appeared in court for jury selection last week.

Diddy and Cassie dated on and off from 2007 to 2018 after she met the music mogul when she was around 19. Years after their breakup, Cassie filed a lawsuit against Diddy in November 2023, accusing him of repeated physical abuse and sexual assault during their relationship.
Diddy denied her claims, and his lawyer told Us in a statement at the time, “Mr. Combs vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations.” Diddy and Cassie settled the case out of court one day after the suit was filed.
The following year, Cassie and Diddy’s relationship was back in the news when CNN published a hotel surveillance video in May 2024 that showed Diddy kicking and grabbing Cassie in 2016. Diddy later apologized for his actions.
Months later, Diddy was arrested in September 2024 and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and has denied all the allegations against him.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo said in a statement in September 2024. “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Diddy was denied all four of his bail requests prior to his trial, which began last week with jury selection and is expected to continue through early July.
Cassie, meanwhile, took the stand on Tuesday and recounted the start of her relationship with Diddy. Two years after signing a 10-album record deal with Diddy’s label, Bad Boy Records, in 2005, Cassie and Diddy’s professional relationship turned personal.
Cassie claimed on the stand that Diddy kissed her on her 21st birthday, and shortly after the celebration they traveled to Miami together. She alleged that during the trip they partied on a boat and Diddy gave her a “blue dolphin” ecstasy pill before they had sex for the first time.
She remembered feeling “completely sexually inexperienced” before dating Diddy, telling the court that he “basically taught” her how to have oral sex.
Cassie revealed on day one of her testimony that she was introduced to Diddy’s “freak offs” when she was 22, which she described as “the hiring of an escort and setting up this experience so that I could perform for Sean.”
Cassie noted that while she felt “confusion” over the freak offs, she engaged in them because she “loved” Diddy “very much.” She then claimed that Diddy “controlled a lot of my life,” alleging that he videotaped her during sexual encounters.
When Cassie took the stand again on Wednesday, May 14, she discussed the surveillance video from 2016 in which Diddy physically assaulted her at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles.
Cassie alleged that Diddy threw a vase of flowers at her while “yelling” at her. Following the incident, Cassie told the court she had a black eye, and the prosecution displayed photos of her swollen lip.
Cassie later testified in more detail about the freak offs, claiming Diddy would physically abuse her while hired escorts were present. “He would grab me up,” she alleged. “Push me down. Hit me in the side of the head. Kick me. You name it.”
