Colm Donnelly was just 18 when he died while working on a car on the farm. His parents have given four people a second chance at life by donating two kidneys, his liver and one of his lungs. They explain how in the aftermath of tragedy, ‘nothing else matters, only doing the right thing’

In a school report from senior infants, Colm Donnelly was described as “the first to assist anybody in need”. Two years after a fatal accident, that legacy of kindness continues to live on through four people who have received a second chance at life through the donation of his organs.
From Tinnock, near Gorey in Co Wexford, Colm was only 18 years old when he died. This year, Organ Donor Awareness Week begins on Saturday, May 10 – what would have been his 21st birthday.
