A lawyer for the BBC has told a High Court jury that even if it sides with former Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams in his defamation action against the broadcaster, it should not award him any damages because of his reputation.
Eoin McCullough SC made the comments on the ninth day of the trial of Mr Adams’ action over a 2016 Spotlight broadcast and a subsequent BBC website article containing an allegation he sanctioned the murder of British spy Denis Donaldson in 2006.
