Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning jockey Rachael Blackmore has announced her retirement from riding.
The Tipperary rider made history by winning the Grand National in 2021 aboard Minella Times and claiming the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2022 on A Plus Tard.
With these victories, she became the first female jockey to win either of the prestigious races.
At 35, she has amassed 18 Cheltenham Festival wins, most recently riding Bob Olinger to victory last March. Five years ago, she also became the first woman to be crowned leading jockey at Prestbury Park.

In a statement, Blackmore said “My days of being a jockey have come to an end.
“I feel the time is right. I’m sad but I’m also incredibly grateful for what my life has been for the past 16 years. I just feel so lucky, to have been legged up on the horses I have, and to have experienced success I never even dreamt could be possible.”
