Katie Thurston and Jeff Arcuri are happily married — and aren’t here for any criticism that they allegedly rushed their union because of her ongoing cancer battle.
Thurston, 34, reposted a social media user’s comment about their relationship onto her Instagram Stories on Sunday, May 11.
“I think Jeff felt guilty and needed to be rushed because she has stage 4 breast cancer,” the Instagram user wrote. “Like, when she dies, u will be single. … Geez, only seven months and then marriage? I pray they know what they are doing.”
In addition to screenshotting the messages, Thurston recorded a selfie video of herself lip-synching, “That was rude. That was very f***ing rude,” from Broadway’s Something About Her musical.
Us Weekly exclusively confirmed in March that Thurston and Arcuri, 36, got married in an intimate ceremony before she started cancer treatment. (The former Bachelorette’s cancer has since spread to her liver, meaning a chemotherapy round was postponed.)
“It was so sweet. Obviously, we were wanting to plan a wedding and there’s a lot of emotions that come in with chemo and the impact and the health and we don’t know what the next year looks like,” Thurston exclusively told Us. “And one night he said, ‘I want to show you that I still love you and that I’m here to stay. I’ll get married to you tomorrow.’ We flew our parents in from Michigan and Washington State. We got our marriage license and a friend is just gonna marry us.

She added, “It was this kind gesture of him saying, truly, in sickness and in health. He is proving that he’s here to stay. He shows up every day and he does it in ways that just continue to surprise.”
Arcuri, for his part, shut down any perceived notions of accelerating their timeline in the same interview with Us. (Arcuri proposed in August 2024 after several months of dating. Thurston was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2025.)
“I want to be able to be in the hospital with her and just be like, ‘My wife’s in there.’ There’s more power to that,” Arcuri told Us. “I don’t want to be not with you for any of this.”
Thurston, meanwhile, had another message for the haters on Sunday.
“My face when people cheer for me to get engaged on a reality TV show, but judge [me] for moving on too fast in real life,” she wrote, sharing throwback footage from her The Bachelorette promo shoot.
Thurston set her upload to Miley Lynn’s song “F*** You (Very Much).”
Thurston and Arcuri are currently doing long-distance while he’s on tour as a comedian.
“Speaking of my amazing husband, he’s currently in Amsterdam and he has informed me that he would like to relocate as a resident in Amsterdam,” Thurston, who lives in New York City with her spouse, said in a separate video posted on Sunday. “Kudos to you guys for doing that [and] anyone here in the States who ever uprooted their life and now lives over there.”
