Leinster championship is reborn as blue cloud dissipates

At the final whistle in O’Moore Park two weeks ago, with Dublin finally slain, it was a bit like that scene in The Wizard of Oz where the Wicked Witch of the East lies prostrate and lifeless. Gathering around her, the Munchkins are beginning to see a new liberation about to unfold, free of bondage.
Nobody needed to go checking on the Dublin team — they live to fight another day. But the outcome was a landmark one, a game-changer, for Meath, for Leinster, and football in general. There is renewed life and vigour in the Leinster championship. For the first time in 15 years, Dublin won’t be in the final or winning it.
