Singer Kiera Dignam talks about her struggle with grief since her father and Aslan frontman Christy died from cancer nearly two years ago, her special memories of him and finding a way to alleviate her loss
Kiera Dignam – Some days are tough
On June 12, 2023, the day before her father Christy Dignam died, Kiera was alone with him at the family home in Finglas. It was one of their final moments together. And their last conversation. Although it was a struggle for him to get the words out, he asked her was she OK. It’s a testament to Christy’s humanity that he was having palliative care in the last 24 hours of his life, and asking his daughter about her wellbeing.
She decided not to tell him the truth. Instead she said, “I’m OK, Dad. I’m not freaked out or anything.”
