They say confession is good for the soul. I hope so. For over 40 years I have harboured a dark secret from my family. Many a sleepless night I have turned and twisted in my bed as the pangs of guilt racked my troubled conscience. No amount of counting sheep could shake off the tidal waves of remorse that swept over me.
In my defence, it wasn’t really my fault. The real villain was Jimmy Magee. It was the 1979 FA Cup final and my only worry was if Liam Brady would lead Arsenal to triumph over Manchester United.
