Vanessa Marcil and Brian Austin Green’s relationship doesn’t seem to extend past coparenting.
Marcil, 56, has been sharing apparent text messages between herself and ex Green, 51, on social media, casually revealing his contact name in her phone. According to Marcil’s screenshots, she refers to him as “Kassius’ Dad,” referring to their 23-year-old son, in her phone.
Green and Marcil met on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210, after she joined the cast in 1998. They dated from 1999 to 2003, welcoming Kassius in March 2002. (They eventually found themselves in a lengthy custody battle over their son.)
The recent text conversations that Marcil has been sharing with Green appear to be mainly focused on parenting Kassius, with one reading with one sharing the details someone’s schedule before a follow up asking, “Father’s Day?” (The screenshots shared via Instagram Stories have since been deleted or expired.)

Marcil’s recent social media activity comes after Green reflected on his multiple relationships in the public eye during a recent episode of his “Old-ish” podcast. The actor referred specifically to his years-long “toxic” romance with Marcil.
“Relationships have been interesting for me,” he said during the Monday, May 5, episode. “I had some major missteps … The relationship that I had with Vanessa was very toxic in that way. It wasn’t a loving, caring relationship.”
Green added, “With my mom, everything was about me. And with Vanessa, it wasn’t that at all. … After two years, you’re kind of looking at yourself in the mirror, asking, ‘Who am I at this point? There’s not one piece of me that’s left. My relationship with everyone around me has changed.’ That relationship ended up not working out.”
Following their split, Green moved on with Megan Fox. They met on the set of Hope & Faith in 2004 and were married from 2010 to 2021. Green and Fox, 38, share sons Noah, 12, Bodhi, 11, and Journey, 8.

He also discussed Kassius being a positive part of the past romance with Marcil. (Marcil previously claimed that she raised Kassius “alone,” accusations which Green has denied.)
“He was by far the first time in my life where I stepped outside of myself,” Green shared about becoming a father. “My insecurities and my things didn’t carry the same weight that they did before because he was just my world. I wanted him with me every second of every day. We had our routines. We had our things.”
Green is now engaged to Dancing With the Stars alum Sharna Burgess, with whom he shares a 2-year-old son named Zane.
