Murder accused Richard Satchwell (58) maintained to gardaí during an interview after his arrest that his wife Tina (45) had vanished without trace from their home while detectives were beginning to excavate his Cork property as part of an invasive search operation.
Mr Satchwell insisted to detectives, while excavations were being carried out at his four-storey Youghal property, that his wife had vanished on March 20, 2017, with two suitcases and €26,000 in cash – and he said realising four days later she was not with her relatives in Fermoy “was like 20 tonnes of bricks falling on you”.
