Shakira was joined by collaborator Wyclef Jean for a special performance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday in New York City. The two artists performed their 2005 hit “Hips Don’t Lie,” which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
For the special performance, Shakira opted for a custom dress courtesy of designer Natalia Fedner. The singer wore a custom silk chiffon and copper chain knit gown, featuring a thigh-high slit and cutout at the back of the dress. The look was a nod to one of Shakira’s outfits in the “Hips Don’t Lie” music video.

Fedner, who also designed the looks for Shakira’s backup dancers, took to Instagram to describe the process of creating the dress for the singer: “When you make everything from scratch, timing is everything,” Fedner said in the caption to her post, featuring a photo of Shakira wearing the dress on the late-night show. “Dyeing, cutting, spinning, knitting, crystallizing — it all takes time.”
Rio Warner and her team assisted Fedner in creating the crystal work on the dress. Frances Fedner was credited for “spinning the chiffon threads and making sure all the jump rings and fringes were perfect,” Natalia Fedner wrote in the caption of her Instagram post.

Shakira’s look was accessorized with bold cuff bracelets. Her makeup featured a natural look and her long tresses were styled with natural waves.
Shakira’s “Tonight Show” look was curated by stylist Nicolas Bru, who has worked with Shakira for several years and curated the singer’s Super Bowl LIV halftime show look.

Prior to her performance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Shakira joined a bevy of A-list celebrities and distinguished guests for the 2025 Met Gala in New York City on Tuesday. The singer wore another custom look for the annual gala ahead of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring exhibition.
Shakira styled a custom Prabal Gurung pink dress with sheer panels on the front and a voluminous train. Bru curated the look. Shakira paired the dress with sheer black gloves.
