Andrew Garfield and rumored girlfriend Monica Barbaro had a sweet moment after the Met Gala.
While the British actor, 41, wasn’t in attendance at the annual fashion event, he was on hand to greet Barbaro, 34, as she returned to New York City’s The Mark Hotel in the early hours of Tuesday, May 6, following the Met Gala.
Video captured by Cosmopolitan on social media shows the Amazing Spider-Man star beaming as he spotted Barbaro return following an afterparty. While the A Complete Unknown actress was dressed in a stylish sheer black gown with floral detailing, Garfield looked understated in a baseball cap, an Ernie T-shirt and a white-and-blue overshirt.
The actor went in for a hug as Barbaro arrived inside the busy lobby and the two appeared to go further into the hotel together.

People first reported in February that the Oscar-nominated stars had begun seeing each other after being spotted in public several times. Neither Garfield nor Barbaro has addressed the dating speculation. Us Weekly reached out for comment at the time.
The new couple were photographed together in Los Angeles at W Magazine‘s Annual Best Performances Party on January 4 alongside Garfield’s longtime pal Eddie Redmayne. In mid-February, the pair were spotted by fans in London watching Jonathan Bailey perform Richard III on the West End. Garfield wore a naive hoodie and red baseball cap, and Barbaro also opted to keep a low profile in a blue baseball cap.
Just days before the Met Gala, Garfield and Barbaro were spotted again taking in a production of John Proctor Is The Villain at the Booth Theatre in New York City.
“New students at Helen County High: Thanks for joining us, Andrew Garfield, Monica Barbaro and Bonnie Milligan!!” a Sunday, May 4, post on the show’s Instagram read, also mentioning Broadway star Milligan, 41.
Garfield and Barbaro both wore baseball caps as they posed onstage with the cast, including 2025 Tony Award nominees Sadie Sink, Gabriel Ebert, Fina Strazza, playwright Kimberly Belflower and director Danya Taymor.
Barbaro made her Met Gala debut on Monday, May 5, elegantly fitting the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme in a tailored black-and-white Dior outfit and boater hat. Garfield, for his part, last attended fashion’s biggest night in 2019.
