It took Christine Brown just one week to say “I love you” to David Woolley, but not all her children were on board with her new romance as quickly.
The Sister Wives star welcomed six children — son Paedon and daughters Aspyn, Mykelti, Gwendlyn, Ysabel and Truely — with ex-husband Kody Brown before they parted ways in November 2021.
Christine was also a second mother to sister wife Janelle Brown’s six children, all of whom were at her and David’s October 2023 nuptials. (In addition to Christine, Kody was married to Janelle and Meri Brown for decades before their respective 2022 and 2023 splits. Kody is still married to fourth wife Robyn Brown.)
David, meanwhile, has eight children of his own, whom he welcomed with his late first wife. While David is used to a big brood, it took a while for Christine’s kids to fully accept him into their lives so soon after Christine and Kody called it quits.
All six of the kids, however, are now fully supportive of David marrying their mom. “He’s been a strong guy, a strong man, in our family who is able to not overstep a boundary but make it a safe environment,” Ysabel said of David during a May 2025 episode of Sister Wives.
She noted that her younger sister Truely is “the most important person to me and I would trust him wholeheartedly to protect her.”

Not Their ‘Stepdad’

During the January 2024 Sister Wives: Christine and David’s Wedding special, Christine’s daughters revealed why “stepdad” didn’t feel like the right word to describe their relationship with David.
“I wouldn’t call him that,” Aspyn told Ysabel during the episode, which filmed in October 2023. “He’s our mom’s husband.”
When Ysabel asked Aspyn whether she wanted David to “be your stepdad?” Aspyn replied, “No, not really, it’s just because I don’t know what to do with it. That’s foreign to me.” Aspyn explained, “Everyone’s just family.” Ysabel replied, “let’s just say family.”
Their youngest sister, Truely, noted that she already lived with both Christine and David, so the wedding wasn’t a big deal. “I refer to David and her as husband and wife already,” Truely explained.
Mykelti, meanwhile, told her sisters that she’d “already accepted him as our stepfather.”
Mykelti Is All in on David

“I love David. I think he’s absolutely incredible,” Mykelti told the cameras during the January 2024 Sister Wives: Christine and David’s Wedding special. “We tease each other a lot. It’s how you know that I like you.”
Maddie Approves
Janelle’s eldest daughter, Maddie, was in attendance when Christine and David tied the knot — and was thrilled her second mom found love again. “I just love him so much. I am so happy for you,” Maddie told Christine during the January 2024 wedding special. “It’s just amazing you get your fairy tale.”
Paedon Is on Board
While Paedon expressed concerns over the fast pace of his mom’s relationship with David during an October 2024 Sister Wives episode — which was filmed prior to the couple’s 2023 nuptials — he revealed that he wanted her to find her soulmate.
“I want mom to be happy, I want mom to be safe and I’m holding judgment until I meet him,” Paedon said in a confessional, referring to David. “But from what I’ve seen and heard, she’s happy and I think she’ll be OK.”
He’s a Survivor

“I like how he survived,” Mykelti’s husband, Tony Padron, said during an October 2024 episode of the TLC series, referring to David raising his children alone after his wife’s death in 2012. “His wife died and left him with eight kids, and he didn’t get addicted to gambling and drugs and he made it. He came out the other side with pretty decent kids. That’s hard.”
The Proposal Was ‘Too Soon’
“When David first proposed to my mom, I thought it was very soon. I thought it was too soon,” Ysabel revealed during a January 2025 Sister Wives episode, reflecting on her mom’s journey to the altar with David. “But I think I’ve had time to, like, adjust to it.”
She explained that in time, she realized how perfect Christine and David are as a pair. “It’s given me a lot more clarity to see, like, how much they love each other,” Ysabel added. “I’m just excited and happy for them.”
Ysabel Is Team David

“I think that David pretty quickly just kind of meshed into our family,” Ysabel shared during a May 2025 episode of the reality show. “I had this worry that David would want to replace my dad’s position and our family. It’s hard to go into a family where you’re taking up this role that has been filled. But I think he’s done it in such a wonderful way.”
