Vanessa Marcil shared a parenting compliment from ex Brian Austin Green just one day after he called their relationship “toxic.”
The actress, 56, took to social media on Tuesday, May 6, to post an alleged text message believed to be between herself and Green, 51, after their 23-year-old son, Kassius, reached a recent milestone.
“Yesterday was his graduation,” Marcil wrote to her ex on an unknown date. Green replied, “You did a really great job. He’s an amazing person :).”
Marcil later replied, “Thank you.”
While the exchange may seem friendly, Marcil and Green haven’t exactly had the strongest relationship after they broke up in 2003.
During the Monday, May 5, episode of his “Old-ish” podcast, Green looked back on his past romances and how they shaped him.
“I had some major missteps,” he explained to cohosts Randy Spelling and now-fiancée Sharna Burgess. “The relationship that I had with Vanessa was very toxic in that way. It wasn’t a loving, caring relationship.”
Marcil — who originally met Green on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210 when she joined the show during season 9 in 1998 — has previously alleged that she raised their son “alone.”
Green denied the claims and said it was “frustrating” to read “continued lies from a 50+-year-old woman.”
Previously, Burgess, 39 — who shares 2-year-old son named Zane with Green — defended her fiancée and claimed he suffered from vertigo “for years” making it “very difficult” for him to see his son with Marcil.
“Those years that he wasn’t able to go see Kassius, Vanessa made no effort to make sure Brian got time with him,” she alleged on a September 2023 episode of the “Old-ish” podcast. “Instead, she painted him as an absent father who chose not to be around for him. And I’m sure that information was fed to Kass, and I can’t imagine how damaging that was for him.”
Following his split from Marcil, Green went on to find love with Megan Fox after meeting on the set of Hope & Faith in 2004. They were married from 2010 to 2021 and share three sons: Noah, 12, Bodhi, 11, and Journey, 8.
“We coparent really well together,” Green shared in September 2023. “When we need to, we communicate really well, we are open to things, we don’t take things personally. It is my goal, and I think it’s her goal as well, that the kids are in as healthy environment as they can be in.”
That sentiment hasn’t changed. In his latest podcast, Green seemingly threw shade at Marcil when he complimented Fox, saying, “Megan was a breath of fresh air coming out of what felt like Vietnam.”
