Vanessa Marcil made a name for herself on the small screen in the ‘90s but her life today looks a little different.
Marcil made her acting debut on General Hospital as Brenda. She was a main cast member on the long-running soap off-and-on from 1992 to 2011. Her last appearance was in 2013 in a guest role capacity.
In between her time on General Hospital, Marcil joined the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 for season 9 where she played Donna’s cousin-turned-sister Gina. While on the series, Marcil met Brian Austin Green, whom she began dating in 1999. The pair got engaged in 2001 and welcomed son Kassius the following year. In 2003, Marcil and Green called it quits after four years of dating.
Following their split, things between Marcil and Green got contentious and the exes got engaged in a lengthy custody battle over their son until he turned 18.
Both Marcil and Green also publicly spoke out about their romance — and haven’t minced words. In 2020, Marcil claimed that she was “never” in love with Green.
“[I was] always honest with him about that. … I did however feel sorry for him. I still do,” she wrote via Instagram. “He’s a very angry/sad human being who still has too much shame to take full responsibility for his actions as a father. I consciously knew that I could work through childhood traumas through him and I have. I have great empathy towards him and other people who are still in pain from their childhoods.”
Green, for his part, alleged that he and Marcil’s relationship was “toxic.”
“With my mom, everything was about me. With Vanessa, it wasn’t that at all,” the actor said during a May 2025 episode of his “Oldish” After two years, you’re kind of looking at yourself in the mirror, asking, ‘Who am I at this point? There’s not one piece of me that’s left. My relationship with everyone around me has changed.’ That relationship ended up not working out.”
Despite having her ups and downs with Green, Marcil has moved on. In 2015, she got engaged to a deputy sheriff, whom she refers to as “MC.”
As for her acting career, Marcil went on to star in Las Vegas from 2003 to 2008. After the drama wrapped up after five seasons, Marcil continued to act in a handful of projects including Lipstick Jungle, Without a Trace and multiple TV movies. Her last role to date was in the 2019 TV film My Stepfather’s Secret.
Currently, Marcil spends her days advocating for single mothers and animal rescues. She works closely with the SoCal French Bulldog Rescue and the California Cleft Pup Rescue. Marcil has given fans an inside look to her work as she aids dogs searching for their forever homes.
“I’ve never been so bombarded with love & so many DM’s asking about Dame Judy (Guapa) This photo is the last time I saw her,” she captioned a selfie of her and a puppy shared via Instagram in March 2025. “After considering several others, MC and I did a home visit and met the whole family. Her mom Megan met me at this park a week later to take The Guap home. I went early to sit with Dame Judy and explain to her everything that was happening. She looked so calm & excited.”
She continued: “We found the most magical furever home for her. She has two frenchie siblings (one with special needs, two human brothers and a mom and dad! Her supermodel career mom goes above and beyond to look out for her and Dame Judy has a grandma too!!!!! They enjoy going to the park and the beach! Judy is getting her own wetsuit I hear to protect her delicate skin. 😎 I’ll continue to share updates when I can.”
