The 2025 Met Gala featured a bevy of trends from pinstripe moments to bold jumpsuits. The annual gala, which took place on Monday night in New York City ahead of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring exhibition, was also the site of a few sheer looks.

Iterations on sheer styling were trending in a major way on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet. Some stars like Halle Berry went all out with their sheer dressing, while others like Laura Harrier incorporated it as just one element of their overall look.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry went bold in a custom look courtesy of LaQuan Smith, featuring a shimmering black sequined dress with sheer panel details creating a striped pattern. She also wore a cropped black satin jacket with structured shoulders and lapels. Berry accessorized with Cartier jewelry and a headpiece by Jennifer Behr. Her look was curated by stylist Lindsay Flores.

Savannah James

Savannah James brought the drama to the red carpet in a look courtesy of Hanifa featuring a burgundy pin-striped pattern throughout, with a cropped jacket, oversized white French cuffs and dramatic cutouts with illusion sheer paneling at the midriff section. She accessorized with a shimmering silver brooch.

Serena Williams

Serena Williams added sheer elements to her look. The 23-time Grand Slam champion and Wyn Beauty founder wore a custom gown by Moncler, which featured a sinuous sheer panel on the skirt. Williams’ look was curated by Edward Enninful.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner incorporated sheer elements in her custom Ferragamo dress. The Khy founder’s halter dress featured shades of gray and black, with the bodice including sheer black paneling at the waist. Jenner accessorized with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Her look was curated by stylists Alexandra Rose and Mackenzie Grandquist.

Laura Harrier

Laura Harrier wholly embraced the Met Gala’s 2025 theme with her attire. The actress wore a custom look courtesy of Gap Studio designed by Zac Posen. The ensemble featured exaggerated wide-leg cream silk trousers with a coordinated vest and blouse with billowing sheer sleeves. Harrier’s look was curated by stylist Danielle Goldberg.

The 2025 Met Gala, held Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, features the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The event highlights Black dandyism and menswear, with a “Tailored for You” dress code. Cochairs include Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour.
