Miranda Derrick is recalling the time she was allegedly contacted by Drake.
“I received a DM from Drake,” Derrick, 28, said on the Sunday, May 4, episode of the “Between Us” podcast, while cohosts Allison Holker and daughter Weslie opened their mouths in shock.
“Maybe I don’t even share it,” Derrick continued. “But basically, he’s like, supporting my husband and I.”
Miranda said she asked her husband, James Derrick, whether it was actually the real Drake who was messaging her. “It was,” Miranda insisted.

Miranda rose to fame as a dancer on TikTok and has since been part of a 2024 Netflix series, Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult. The three-part show delved into her family’s claims that the 7M dancer is allegedly stuck in a cult run by the pastor at Los Angeles’ Shekinah Church and the founder of 7M films, Robert Shinn.
The series also followed other dancers and their families hoping to find answers about Shinn, who has been accused of sexual assault by multiple women.
“No criminal charges have been brought against Shinn. He has previously denied sexually abusing any member of Shekinah or any client of 7M,” a Netflix statement shown at the end of the series reads. “The civil lawsuit is ongoing. Robert and his codefendants deny the claims against them. The case is set to go to trial in 2025.”
Following the series’ release, Miranda shared that she was “not a victim,” “not in any harm” and “not being abused.”
“I want to start by saying that I appreciate the concern that has been expressed for my well-being. Due to pending litigation, in which I am a plaintiff in a defamation lawsuit, it’s not appropriate for me to comment on specific allegations. Though I will state that I do not condone abuse in any way,” Miranda, who had previously denied she is in a cult, wrote via her Instagram Story in 2024. She also shared in a separate video that she had been receiving death threats.
Her sister, Melanie Wilking, later reacted to Miranda’s videos about the docuseries, telling People that it “saddens” her.
“She’s been under this control for over three years, and so the person that’s sitting in front of her camera and making these posts, that’s not my true sister,” Wilking said in June 2024. “I know that this is from the church and from Robert. She’s so loving and kind and loved our family, and so for her to point fingers at us, it’s just not her true self.”
