RTÉ warned the Government that any redundancy scheme for its staff should not be on a par with that offered by the Health Service Executive, amid claims that lower-paid redundancies could prompt industrial action by staff.
Correspondence between the national broadcaster and the Department of Media shows the Government asked for a lower payout — with 400 staff at Donnybrook and nationwide set to leave over the coming years — but this was met with pushback by RTÉ.
