On Thursday, mourners at Bishop Brendan Comiskey’s funeral mass were told by his old friend, Fr Jim Fegan, that he was “in some ways a product of the church culture of his time, which focused overtly on organisation rather than people”.
In 2002, Comiskey made history in Ireland after resigning from the diocese of Ferns when abuse survivors revealed he had concealed a paedophile priest’s crimes from the civil authorities.
