‘The referee just conveyed that he noticed we were all wearing shorts and that the game would not be going ahead until we were all wearing skorts’
Dublin and Kilkenny teams refused to wear skorts in their Leinster championship encounter
The Leinster Senior Camogie semi-final match between Dublin and Kilkenny was at risk of being called off on Saturday afternoon after both sets of players opted to wear shorts, instead of the rulebook-imposed skorts, to take a stand against the mandatory enforcement of the clothing item by the Camogie Association.
Minutes before the throw-in of the game at 3.30pm in Peregrine’s GAA club, Blanchardstown, the referee directed both teams to change out of their shorts and into skorts, as per the sport’s rulebook, or face the game being abandoned.
