You probably know the feeling. It’s a beautiful sunny day, just like we experienced last week. You’re out for a walk in the park. Your nose starts to run. You start sneezing. Your eyes water and become swollen and itchy. If that’s not bad enough, you might develop an earache or a bad headache. Or you might feel so tired that you need to have a lie down.
These symptoms point to hay fever, or to give it its medical name, allergic rhinitis. One in four Irish people has it. Unlike a cold, which can have similar symptoms, the features of hay fever last for many weeks.
