The royal family celebrated Princess Charlotte’s monumental double-digit birthday with a brand new, official portrait.
“Happy 10th Birthday, Princess Charlotte! ❤,” a post on her parents’ official Instagram read on Friday, May 2, in which the 10-year-old beamed while wearing a long-sleeve camouflage jacket during an outdoor excursion. The pic, true to their family’s tradition, was snapped by mom Princess Kate Middleton.
Kate, 43, and Prince William welcomed Charlotte in May 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. (Kate and William, 42, also share Prince George and Prince Louis, born in July 2013 and April 2018, respectively.)
On Wednesday, April 30, royal expert Sharon Carpenter told Us Weekly that Kate and William have “watched Charlotte grow into a smart, confident and funny girl who knows how to hold her own both in the spotlight and outside of it.”
“[William] and Kate want Charlotte to recognize that she’s her own person with an identity that goes way beyond her place within the royal family,” Carpenter added.
According to another royal commentator, Amanda Matta, Charlotte is also a well-rounded and all-around good student.
“She’s reportedly bright and diligent, and she’s said to be multilingual with a particular interest in Spanish,” Matta explained to Us, noting that she enjoys gymnastics, tennis and archery.
Charlotte made headlines last summer when she was seen with her mom at Wimbledon. While it was Kate’s first return to the public eye since announcing her unspecified cancer diagnosis, Matta shared that Charlotte stole the show by waving to the crowd and chatting with winner Carlos Alcaraz.
“Charlotte confidently shook hands with players and talked to adults like it was no big deal,” Matta told Us. “Her ease in the spotlight is striking.”

Last year, Jason Kelce also said the “adorable” young princess stole the show when he met her backstage at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert in London in June 2024. Charlotte attended the show with her dad and brother George.
“I gotta say, Prince William was fantastic, but the highlight was Princess Charlotte,” Jason, 37, said on his and brother Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast at the time. “Prince George was great too. She was so f**ing adorable.”
Jason went on to gush about Charlotte’s personality.
“I cannot express how … I don’t know, maybe it’s because I have three girls now — she had fire to her, she was asking questions,” Jason shared. “That was the most electric part of the [royal encounter].”
