As the Munster teams continue knocking lumps out of each other, Kilkenny could be the side with the simplest passage to grab hold of Liam MacCarthy. As they breeze their way through Leinster, their run to the knockout stages is a whole lot more straightforward.
Ten years will soon have passed since Joey Holden accepted the cup for Kilkenny and, in that time, they’ve unsuccessfully contested four All-Ireland finals. There is an impatience building Noreside and a sense that as the great Limerick team shows signs of fading, they’re best placed to pick up the mantle.
