Theresa Nist is weighing in on whether she’d be down for another go-round of The Golden Bachelor after her divorce from lead Gerry Turner.
“In another altered universe,” Theresa, 71, quipped during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly.
Theresa made her reality TV debut on The Golden Bachelor season 1, which aired in 2023, and ultimately accepted a proposal from Gerry. The pair tied the knot in early 2024 but divorced months later.
One year after their split, Theresa played coy about her relationship status, but she told Us the qualities she’s looking for in a future partner.

“Somebody warm and kind and intelligent and appreciative of life. Someone who’s funny, who I can laugh with. I think that if you laugh with this person, you’ve got it made,” she said. “Somebody who would be my best friend first. I want a best friend who I’m in love with. That’s what I want to do things with. Somebody I’m really in tune with, you know, we both want the same things in life. I think all the normal regular things that everybody loves.”
While her pal Leslie Fhima and other members of the Golden franchise will be hitting the beach for Bachelor in Paradise season 10, Theresa told Us she’s not going to be featured on the show.
“Just not my vibe,” she explained. “Just wasn’t the right thing for me. I don’t know if I would change my mind about it another year, but I’m not getting any younger I don’t know. I thought it through. … I couldn’t imagine how it would work for me. I just want to root for everyone else. I’m just gonna be so excited for all of them.”
Aside from Paradise, Theresa will also be rooting for the newest Golden Bachelor, Mel Owens, and his contestants. (ABC announced earlier this month that the former NFL player will be leading The Golden Bachelor season 2.)

“He seems amazing. He seems so wonderful. So can’t wait to see how that goes,” she gushed of Mel. “To think back to us, when we were doing it for the first time and not knowing if it would work — I think what really made it work was curiosity that people tuned in for, but then they got hooked because it was these rich, incredible stories. And I would imagine that’s what we’re gonna see again.”
She continued, “I can’t wait to see who these people are and they will have learned from what we went through. So they’ll have, I think, even a better experience. I’m really looking forward to it.”
The Golden Bachelor is expected to return to ABC later this year.
