Taking to Instagram, the 42-year-old shared the news.
“An earth-angel said Yes,” he captioned the post.
“I’m really glad I went for a coffee that day. Hopefully we can keep going for coffee together until we’re grey and old.
“Thank you for all your gifts, quite simply too numerous to mention – and for being the infinite bright spark in my life, every day, dusk til dawn,” he continued, adding: “Kev Óg is simply blessed to have you as his Mama.
“My Papa wrote a poem for Mam a few years back. One of the lines he wrote read: ‘And I will travel any winter road with you, wherever you chose to go, if you will light the way’, I may borrow this one Papa, if you don’t mind.”
Famous friends such as Laura Whitmore, Rosalind Lipsett, Sinead O’Carroll, Lorraine Barry and Maia Dunphy rushed to the comments to share their congratulations.
McDermott’s post also included a carousel of snaps to celebrate the occasion.
The first pic shows his wife-to-be as she posed on a beach with her left hand raised to the camera, showing off her new rock.
Another showed the full poem written by his father in 2019.
More images show the couple smiling together, and in one throwback, the pair posed together in front of a tree as Eoghan cradled his partner’s growing bump.
The couple welcomed their first child together, Kev Óg, in March.

He introduced his new baby son to the world as he paid tribute to the midwives of Holles St Hospital.
The new dad posted a picture of the couple as they cradled their new son who they named Kevin Mateo McDermott.
“Welcome to the world, precious boy,” he declared. “You are so very loved. Named after my Papa (and his new Grandpa) – the wisest, kindest man of all.
“Mam said the other day ‘oh it’s Kev and Kev Óg’… so perhaps ‘Kev Óg’ will stick.”
He added his thanks to “earth angels” in Holles St “and especially the @domino_midwives … you are ferocious and wonderful people”.
“I’ll take the best of what is good and strong and true and do my best to be a wonderful father,” he vowed.
“And of course, thank you beyond what words will ever capture @alessandraheredia for a life-defining gift. You are magic in a bottle and Baby Kev will be all the richer in all the ways with you as his mother, that I know.
“Here’s to the next…and greatest, adventure. Failte, Kevin Mateo.”
Last December, McDermott made his first public appearance since leaving the station three years ago alongside Alessandra as they stepped out for Julian Benson’s Winter Wonderland Gala Ball in Dublin.
No reason was given for his departure but in March 2022, he broke his silence in a statement to say “false allegations” had been made about him — referring to comments posted anonymously on Twitter and Reddit.
“Despite not being investigated or verified, these allegations were spread widely, the effects of which I am still processing,” McDermott said.
Mr McDermott accompanied the Twitter post with a letter issued by Mary Cowhey Solicitors, representing his accuser, to his own solicitor Paul Tweed.
The letter said that during the course of some internet postings and a number of tweets made through an anonymous Twitter account in March 2021, their client made false allegations against the presenter.
“Those remarks arose out of a relationship they had in or around October 2010,” it read.
“Our client accepts there were a number of serious falsehoods contained in her publications, which may have caused distress to your client and those closest to him.”
“Our client sincerely regrets publishing the inaccuracies contained in those publications and acknowledges that they have had a harmful effect on your client and those close to him.
“These inaccuracies were the product of the elapse of time since 2010 and the published tweets. They also stemmed out of an unreasonable reliance placed on false information from third parties.”
It went on to state that their client accepted she was at the age of consent at the time that she and Mr McDermott met or engaged in a physical relationship, contrary to the original claim.
“She acknowledges the severity of this false claim and retracts it unequivocally. Our client also accepts, without reservation, that she falsely claimed that your client had fled the country on account of these claims,” it added.
