I have been driving since I was 17. Despite being claim-free for all of those nine years, let’s just say it’s not all been plain sailing. It’s a regular occurrence that I knock off a wing mirror off or tear the side panel of my car off entirely. I have the panel beater on speed dial.
There was a time when I loved driving, back in my teens. It felt less arduous and more of a novelty. I was the first in my friend group to pass my test so I naturally became the taxi driver. My 2008 Toyota Yaris was the safe haven for all our teenage gossip. Going through the McDonald’s drive-through to mend broken hearts, or divulging all of our darkest secrets while driving aimlessly around Cork city. Now my driving consists of going to Tesco and back when I feel too lazy to walk.
