The Valley‘s Michelle Lally and Jesse Lally have been in divorce proceedings for a while — and it could still be years before it is officially over.
“It’s a struggle. I just [always] say you need to have two people who have the same mindset that just want to move forward in life,” Michelle, 36, explained on the Monday, April 28, episode of her “Pursuit of Sassiness” podcast. “If one person can’t do that, then it just ultimately makes the divorce process brutal.”
Michelle said resistance on either side makes the divorce take “longer,” adding, “I’m very black and white and unfortunately, he’s not. So I think it’s going to take a couple of years to get divorced.”
She continued: “I actually have a lawyer. He does not, which makes it even harder at times. Because he thinks that he knows the law — but that’s a whole other conversation.”
Guest Ryan Serhant asked whether Michelle and Jesse, 43, are still working together on real estate. According to Michelle, they only overlap professionally when it comes to past clients.
“Anything that we’ve sold in the past — because we were team members for five or six years,” she noted. “So anybody in the past — like somebody who referred us recently — we’re actually closing this week. So that’s going to be a sale that I can talk about in a few days.”
Bravo viewers were introduced to Michelle and Jesse’s tumultuous relationship before The Valley even premiered in early 2024. Shortly before the show debuted, Us Weekly broke the news that Michelle and Jesse filed for divorce following their fifth wedding anniversary. As the legal proceedings continued, Michelle and Jesse have struggled to remain on the same page.
“Michelle has her own experience and I have my own experience. I would never invalidate her. I think people are extremely intelligent where they know that [someone is] trying to create a one-sided narrative. You can see right through that,” Jesse exclusively told Us earlier this month about Michelle’s recent comments about their past issues. “Words don’t mean as much as when you see what the camera shows. That’s what you should be hearing. It’s only a one-sided narrative. But she has her experience and that’s how she feels.”
Jesse specifically weighed in on the public back and forth between him and Michelle, adding, “My biggest problem — and I got it tattooed on my arm — is that emotion clouds reason. The strongest person — regardless of the work they’re doing — in a moment of weakness can be triggered.”
Meanwhile Michelle admitted to Us that coparenting can be “awful” at times.
“But I love my daughter. It’s not funny. But all I can do is smile because I always wish that one day we will get to that place,” she said about their 4-year-old daughter, Isabella. “I don’t know if it will ever happen. That is my hope because I do love my daughter and I want her to see two happy parents. So all I can do is play my role in being positive.”
