A young man is battling for his life in intensive care after suffering catastrophic injuries in a single-vehicle road crash in rural Wexford.
The 18-year-old was discovered in his car at Garryvadden Upper, Blackwater, at around 6.00am on Sunday. Emergency services rushed to the scene and the Leaving Cert student, who is local to the area and was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was rushed to hospital for further treatment to a serious head injury.
The teenager was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he remains in intensive care.
Gardaí forensic collision investigators carried out a full technical examination of the scene in a bid to ascertain what caused the crash and the rural road was closed for a time.
