North Carolina’s Larcenia Roe will release their debut full-length Extraction on May 16 via Unique Leader Records. The record features collaborations with Lwandile Prusent of Vulvodynia, ex-Chelsea Grin vocalist Alex Koehler, and the band Filth. Though if you’re looking to get grossed out prior to checking out (and pre-ordering) Extraction, here are the five album covers that totally grossed out Larcenia Roe.
Extermination Dismemberment – Butcher Basement (Revamped)
Though the “butcher” theme is a common fan favorite, I think my friends in Extermination Dismemberment did it the best. The Revamped release of Butcher Basement‘s artwork stands strong with its over the top gruesome display while giving you multiple characters to fear. The mutilated body is INSANE in itself but the butcher is the real centerpiece in my eyes. I highly recommend checking out the band’s music videos that include the butcher character. Extremely well done!

Slipknot – Slipknot
This album art may not be the most “brutal” cover of all time, but was one of the earliest albums I saw in my father’s CD collection as a child. I called it the “scary” album when I very young. It stemmed my curiosity and had me asking questions. To me, any form of art that can do that is extremely effective.

Cannibal Corpse – The Wretched Spawn
It wouldn’t be a list without including at least one Cannibal Corpse record. This cover art is my favorite out of their thick list of brutal showings. Birth in itself is quite brutal in my opinion, so this artwork amplifies that thought.

Cattle Decapitation – Medium Rarities
I found this album art to be extremely inspiring with its simple concept but catching visual. The mysterious mouth on a frying pan makes you wonder where the rest of the face is, where it came from, and what seasoning they may be using…

Last Days Of Humanity – Horrific Compositions Of Decomposition
This one has always stuck out to me since stumbling upon it. I think everyone at some point had a fear of something getting your feet while you’re trying to sleep at night. I enjoy the realness in the style of the cover piece. It pulled in a classic 1950’s horror lens with a modern dark web vibe.
