Kerry Washington Bursts With Color in Vibrant Dress at Film Festival

Kerry Washington was among the distinguished, high-profile guests who attended the “Shadow Force” screening at the 2025 Atlanta Film Festival on Sunday in Georgia. The actress costars in the action thriller alongside Omar Sy.

For the red carpet occasion, Washington turned to the runway for inspiration for her look. The actress wore a midi dress courtesy of Christopher John Rogers‘ fall 2025 ready-to-wear collection. The strapless dress featured bold colorblocking.

The tulip skirt of the look featured a burgundy shade, contrasted by red at the waist. The bodice of the strapless dress featured a bright blue hue. The dress incorporated elements of structure throughout, giving the ensemble a subtle angular feel.

Washington paired the dress with white, pointed-toe heels. The actress went minimalist when it came to her jewelry. Her hair was styled with long waves that cascaded down her back and fringe to frame her face. Standout elements of her makeup included lined eyes and a pop of color with her red lip. Washington’s look was curated by stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn. The styling duo also work with Jennifer Lopez, among others.

Washington’s Atlanta Film Festival look made its runway debut as part of New York Fashion Week last February. Christopher John Rogers used a colorist’s sensibility for this latest collection, titled “Exhale.”

The collection featured “daring color combos, but was also grounded, with the designer’s couture-like volumes cut down to size on many looks, including the opener, a cap-sleeve, drop-waist dress with fluted skirt, in the surprising combo of sunshine yellow, coral and burgundy stripes,” Booth Moore wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.

“Shadow Force” follows an estranged couple, played by Washington and Sy, who go on the run with their son in tow to evade their former employer, who’s sent a unit of shadow ops to kill them. The film hits theaters May 9.
